Our updated purpose as we get older.
Recently, I had the revelation that I am getting older. While it doesn’t sound all that serious, I realized I have started to slow down and not be as energetic as I used to be. As we visited Santorini and wandered the winding, uneven footpaths, I watched the porters carrying luggage down to the many hotels lining the slope. Their strong calves and strenuous work pointed out just how intense walking in Santorini could be. We had originally planned to bring my mom on this trip, and realizing how hard this would have been on her, I’m glad we didn’t. I started to consider walking challenges, doing too much, and well-being as we age. I had been shifting my travel style without realizing it, focusing on comfort, less strenuous, arduous, and slower journeys. But I often felt guilty about not being as ambitious as I used to be. I realized I was really getting to know cities and experiencing local life in a way that I had not been before.
I still love discovering new places. What changed after 50 wasn’t my curiosity — it was how I felt traveling the way I used to. Packing in multiple destinations, nonstop walking, and urgency to see everything left me worn out and exhausted. As I looked for ways to adapt or travel differently, I was surprised by how little honest guidance there is.
Everything we researched focused on two extremes: slow down and experience less, or luxury travel that takes care of everything at a hefty price.
Neither felt right.
Travel has always mattered to us because it’s about presence: noticing details, savoring meals, and feeling connected to a place. I didn’t want to travel less. I wanted to travel better.
So we started planning differently — with pacing, recovery, and comfort treated as essentials, not indulgences. When our trips respected our energy instead of fighting it, travel became fun again.
Our site is shifting its focus and re-evaluating our content to practical, experience-based tips and guides for travelers aged 50-75 who want trips that inspire while being comfortable, paced, and rewarding without breaking the bank.
If you want travel that works with the life you’re in now, you’re in the right place.
